About the Thermoforming Institute

The Thermoforming Institute was created to:

• Promote the growth and prestige of the thermoforming industry by encouraging the use of good manufacturing practices in compliance with recognized standards of practice.
• Enhance communications about thermoforming by originating, compiling, and disseminating technical, statistical, safety, and other information that is of interest to the industry, public, and government bodies.
• Promote the development of new applications and proper use of thermoforming by the processor, by disseminating scientific, engineering and other information on thermoforming of various polymeric materials.
• Develop technical specifications, chemical and physical test procedures and to recommend standards on plastic sheet and thermoforming for formal promulgation, where appropriate, through recognized standards-making organizations.
